Graphite Machining, Products, and Applications
We utilize the latest technology to manufacture custom-machined carbon and graphite products.
From our data-capturing ERP system to our Solidworks and MasterCam computer-aided drafting and machining software, we are at the forefront of machining with technology. Our machining is performed by qualified machinists on new CNC vertical and horizontal 4th axis milling, grinding, and turning centers.
We are capable of processing parts as tiny as a button and as large as a pickup truck. Our equipment commonly handles blocks of raw material in excess of two tons. During a normal week of production, our facility will produce over five tons of saw/mill turnings.
We have machined graphite and carbon composite materials for over 40 years.
We have the experience, the talent, the equipment, and the drive to be your best vendor.

Graphite Ingot Molds
Making gold and silver ingots, the bars traded in the largest international markets, requires a mold in which to pour the molten metal. Luckily for makers of these ingots, there is a graphite solution to this need. At Semco, we know this because we make the graphite molds that gold and silver ingot producers use to shape their bars for the international market. Literally billions of dollars worth of gold and silver have been shaped into ingots in molds machined by Semco. Because the standards for gold and silver ingots set by the London Bullion Market Association are so exacting, the ingot molds must be manufactured by precision graphite machiners. That’s us at Semco.
The Pitfalls of Improper Tolerancing
Imagine a Semco clients sends blueprints to us for an R&D mold that’s never been manufactured before. We would like to assume that the blueprints are accurate, that the tolerancing is correct, and that all specifications have been reviewed by the client. However, Semco has been in business for decades and we know better than to make assumptions about the manufacturing process.
Diffusion Barrier Coatings for Graphite Fixtures
Vacuum heat treating shops commonly use graphite fixtures on which to set parts to be treated. Graphite fixtures have excellent thermal stability, allowing them to be used again and again through multiple heat treat cycles. In addition to that, graphite does offer significant cost advantages, when compared to other materials used to make fixtures (high nickel/chromium or moly alloy type fixtures)
Aerospace and Graphite
At first you would not really think to put the two together as working partners. Yes…. They are. Graphite is used in the aerospace industry for a wide variety of applications. Heat Treating Synthetic graphite is used as engineered material to create precision machined plates, posts, nuts and bolts along with heating elements and fixtures used in the heat treatment of aerospace metals such as (titanium, stainless steel, and other alloys). The heat treatment process is used to give these metals improved strength, flexibility, or hardness.
