Quality Manager Position-Returning to the Roots
While time has seemed to stand still for much of the last few months, changes are still occurring. Semco’s Quality Manager for the past 5 years, Lee Dohanos, is retiring this month. After over 40 years working in the graphite manufacturing industry, and 5 years contributing his precision graphite expertise to our organization, he is embarking on a new chapter in his life— a well-earned retirement. Lee plans to pursue long-held passions, which means he will be spending a lot more time outdoors. Lee especially loves kayaking and is an avid hiker. Together with his wife, he also plans to spend a lot more time with his kids and grandkids. We wish him a Happy Retirement.
Replacing an excellent employee like Lee is not a task any company relishes, but we are fortunate to have a person ready to step in to fill Lee’s shoes as Quality Manager. Before Lee became Quality Manager, Filip Cujba occupied this crucial position that helps Semco ensure all graphite parts leave our production facility meet the highest standards of quality. With Lee’s departure, Filip will migrate back to the Quality Manager position. The transition will involve Filip handling both Sales and Quality duties until our future Sales Rep. can be hired and trained.
Besides the daily duties specific to the Quality Manager Position, Filip will be spearheading a very important project at the company. Semco has been running a forerunner to an ISO Quality system for a while now. The team at Semco has decided that now is the time to make our quality assurance system official by embarking on ISO Quality Certification.
Filip is extremely excited to return to his original job as Quality Manager, a move that one of Semco’s owners, Vince Thompson, remarked was a return to his roots. While we will certainly miss Lee, Semco is fortunate to have a highly qualified expert in graphite manufacturing take up this important position.
